In 1997, she started acting when she was 13 years old. In 1997, after taking numerous classes as well as doing background work on Canadian series like Road to Avonlea and Harriet the Spy and Harriet the Spy, she was offered her first role as a speaker in the Canadian children's horror anthology series Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, both series were broadcast in 1997 on YTV. Following commercials, she had guest starring roles for guest starring roles in Mutant X, Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story, Goosebumps, Twice in a Lifetime, Doc, Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, Troubled Waters, The Dresden Files, along with a handful of Disney Channel original series (Mom's Had A Date with a Vampire and Alley Cats Strike), aged 19, going to York University where she was studying Psychology and English,[1] Vandervoort got a leading role in Sadie Harrison in the CTV Teen Drama series Instant Star, which had a run of four seasons. Two years later, Vandervoort made her acting debut in a movie, The Lookout alongside Jeff Daniels, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Matthew Goode, and Isla Fisher. Vandervoort's TV career started with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Her next project was the role as Clark Kent's Kryptonian Cousin "Kara Kent", (the woman who will later become Supergirl) on The CW serial-drama program Smallville. In season 7, she became a regular on the series. In season 7, she was in "Bloodline" in episode from the eighth season. [3] In the tenth season and its final episode Smallville in the tenth season, she was able for two more episodes. Vandervoort filmed the sequel film to Into the Blue, titled Into the Blue 2 - The Reef. The Jazzman was her next independent film. It also featured Canadian actors Michael Ironside and Corey Sevier.
